What is ayurveda?

Ayurveda (आयुर्वेद) is defined as the "science of life," and was developed over 5,000 years ago as an avenue toward better health, inside and out. We are connected to everything we see and experience in nature, as we are comprised of the elements of earth, water, fire, air, and ether. A dive into Ayurveda means learning about your own personal constitution, and understanding how and where these elements are both in, and out, of balance within the layers of who we are.

Our fast-paced lives have us constantly on the go, but we aren’t meant to simply work to survive. Ayurveda offers us the invitation to truly thrive, by implementing simple, ancient, tried and true principles to our daily lives. From dietary shifts to lifestyle changes, opening the door to Ayurveda means opening the mind and heart to the possibility that life can feel rich, colorful, peaceful, and intentional.

Do you suffer from digestive issues, sleep problems, chronic fatigue, anxiety, or stress? Ayurveda’s dependable tools can help bring you back to balance. Are you going through a challenging time at home/work, and are looking to regain a sense of control? Ayurveda will tune you back into the intuition that’s always been there. Have you felt the call to know yourself better? To improve your life beyond the survival of the day-to-day grind? Let Ayurveda open the gates to the freedom of understanding what you need most, once and for all.

What does an Initial Ayurvedic Consultation look like?

An initial consultation is your first step toward developing a deeper relationship with yourself. You’ll contact Jen to book an appointment, and once scheduled, be sent an in-depth Wellness Questionnaire to assess your current state of health, concerns, goals, and a general look at your constitution. Jen will spend time reviewing your questionnaire, which you’ll discuss either in person or via Zoom at your appointment. This is a cooperative environment, and clients are encouraged to bring any questions, and participate fully in the discussion as we clarify the next best steps. Following your appointment, Jen will send a detailed message outlining the steps discussed, potentially adding more recommendations for how to proceed with diet, lifestyle, sleep, and energy management. Movement and spiritual work, in the form of yoga, will be recommended based on the needs of the client.

Follow-up consultations and/or personalized yoga practices will be recommended on a case-by-case basis. In general, it’s a good idea to schedule a follow-up each turn of the seasons to check in on goals and adjust based on how you’re feeling.
