Paper Crane Yoga+Mindfulness
Movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and intention to remind kids how special they are, from the inside out!
About PCY
Paper Crane Yoga provides students throughout Whatcom County an invitation to soften, stretch, breathe, and come home to themselves. We emphasize the power of listening to our bodies, and invite kids to understand that building a flexible mind is just as important as a flexible body.
PCY was born from a love of sharing yoga with the community, starting with our kids. When we teach our young citizens how to slow down, pay attention to their energy, and invite them to observe where that energy is flowing, we instill a quality of mindfulness that travels far beyond the mat. What greater gift can we give to the next generation?
Jen created and founded PCY, which pulls from 15 years of experience as a yoga instructor, classroom teacher, and mother. With a unique curriculum that provides students with time to both move and explore, this program is intended to bring to light the ancient wisdom of a 3,000+ year old practice. We honor the roots while creating an engaging, accessible, and fun environment where EVERYONE is welcome!

Yoga is so much more than what we explore on the mat; it’s a way of life that tethers us to the heart of who we are. Our kids deserve the invitation to dig deep, and know themselves well.

Why Paper Crane?
Paper cranes are seen as a symbol of longevity, peace, and healing; all closely tied to what we can expect from a regular yoga and mindfulness practice. A paper crane is constructed from paper that is folded with intention, and the result is both beautiful and representative of a life full of hope. When we bend our limbs through yoga asana (postures), we are not simply moving our physical bodies, we're moving our breath and energy as we seek a pathway toward harmony (what yogis call sattva). The outter body finds balance, so that our mental energy can stabilize, and we can see more clearly who we are (and who we've always been).
The majestic crane reminds us that we are not only capable of living long, full lives, but that we can fly if we give ourselves the chance! The next generation deserves the invitation to see the world from the lens of compassion and hope, and the aim of Paper Crane Yoga is to give them the tools to do just that.
